Winter is a very pretty time
of year from our deck.
Jocose (happy, merry, waggish) Kennel started in 1985
with the purchase of Ch. Vandys Jocose Jubilee "Gizmo" from Carole Henry
of Vandy Keeshonden. He was our first Keeshond and our first show dog.
He finished his championship at the age of 19 months, amateur owner
handled. It was quite the experience but it just whetted our appetite
for more of the same so we purchased Odelyn Vested Gentress "Krissy"
from Peter and Ellen Dowd of Odelyn Kennels. Krissy was purchased with a
three point major to her credit and was also amateur, owner handled to
her championship. Gizmo and Krissy were only bred once and they produced
two champions (pictured in our photo album).
In 1993 we relocated from Long Island to Catskill New
York when my husbands job ended and the children (human) had left the
nest to start their own lives. In Catskill we enjoy the freedom of 6
wooded acres and a very nice view, from our deck of the Catskill
mountains. When we have had enough of the seclusion we go to visit with
the children and grandchildren in Pennsylvania where both of our
daughters have relocated to. When not indulging our grand-children of
our main enjoyment is to load up our motor home and head out to dog
shows.
I am a member of the Keeshond Club of America and
treasurer of the Empire State Keeshond club. We adhere to the KCA code
of ethics. We don't breed Keeshonden very often but when we do all
breeding stock (my own as well as any that we breed to) are tested for
Hip dysphasia, Stifles checked, eye checked, and thyroid tested. We
believe that we should do everything possible to produce healthy, sound
dogs.
